For anyone in any field of endeavor whether it's engineering, all of the sciences or the arts--creating and developing something useful or unique in this century can be daunting. The competition is an entire planet with 8 billion other people...

We're well into the 21st Century and writing a distinctive story plot with clues 'and' surprises 'and' a logical twist to the ending makes for a credible challenge.

Still in wonder from not just one but two book awards in 2019--I hadn't considered entering another book in another literary competition. I didn't want to break the 'spell', mainly because I worried my 2019 wins were flukes. Then I got a note from a reader via my website. She had read "Fine Points Malice and Payback" then found "THE COUNT OF BALDPATE" and she wondered why I hadn't entered it, since "Baldpate" was published before "Fine Points"? Good question, however, since there is typically a publishing date limit on most book entrees I thought "Baldpate" might not qualify - but amazingly it did.

Note to all authors: always respond to and keep up with any reader communication because they are creative too, and if it hadn't been for this [loyal] reader, I would not have checked, nor would I have entered this book for consideration. So, blown away again, I managed to earn a 2020 Distinguished Favorites Award from Gabby-Independent Press New York. So, obviously 2019 was not a simple fluke...Wow...

‘The Count Of Baldpate’ by author Sherrie Todd Beshore is a perfect blend of well plotted suspense thriller with an intriguing narrative packed with palpable trepidation seeping out from every chapter at the turn of every page as the story unfolds.

An old business card belonging to history professor Hank Rule of Colorado State University (CSU) sets severe challenges for sheriff Claire Gage to investigate and find answers to the mysterious murder of an elderly man- Hugo Lanze near Baldpate Inn. Author Sherrie weaves her thriller skillfully showcasing the talent of a brilliantly experienced writer by mixing just the right amount of historical facts with bone chilling suspense giving her readers an insight into the intricately developed situation with believable life-like characters. ‘The Count Of Baldpate’ definitely sets high standards for other upcoming novels in the genre of suspense with engrossing and believable fiction that demands seriously invested attention to discover a captivating story line between covers. This book would be a perfect addition to any avid mystery thriller lover’s collection. Highly recommended.

Much of my mystery-suspense plot efforts are targeted to an adult reading audience, but every now and then an idea for youth readers emerged and I went with that inspiration too. I was excited to explore another 'voice'... Also in 2019, from Story Monsters Ink, magazine I earned a first-place award for youth literature, that was so unexpected but equally gratifying. It was certainly a mystery, but with mystical elements. This recognition came two months after the New York Independent Press award, so 2019 was a banner year for me. Feeling brave again, I ventured to submit "THE CROW CHILD" to a number of Reviewers. Literary award judges don't typically share their reasons for selecting one book over another. Some writers might consider an award enough validation. However, I still wanted more detailed insight, that might also keep me stay-on-track for future books in the youth genre. MYSTERY SHE WROTE..."COME SIT IN MY KITCHEN"

Ahhh, my mystery number nine... I had intended to write this book, years before I finally got it finished, but it wasn't written as I had originally planned. I grew up with a dad and uncle [Dad's younger brother] and a grandmother who told oodles of funny and interesting family stories, with colorful characters. With those stories rolling around in my head for decades, this family-memoir was - in my mind - going to be humorous. However, diving into research for more of the history for global events of their 'time' pointed me in an entirely new direction.  Certainly, all the family members I had prepared to feature were still included, but too many social, global and political events between WWI and WWII kept intruding and got in my way. So, what was happening around them got woven in with the two generations before me in my family as well. MYSTERY SHE WROTE..."THE CROW CHILD"

  This project was not my first 'dive' into writing for Middle-Grade/Young Teen readers, but it was my first mystical-adventure plot that featured a true superhero as the main character. Like a few of my adult plots this too began as separate novella style books specifically geared to [as one MG teacher described] the 'reluctant reader".  However, the premise came from an unusual place. In 2008 a young mother whose five-year-old son was born with Cystic Fibrosis contacted me. Her son's favorite superhero was Spiderman. Just before bed they often read several pages from a Spiderman comic. The night before, her son was despondent because: "I guess no one  like me could be a superhero, huh?  The mother knew I was working on a young teen mystery series, but wondered if I could write a book about a sick kid - who could also be a superhero?  I found this new challenge appealing.
